Stage 7: Doué la Fontaine to Monts sur Guesne, 58 km

Today my legs felt great – and my feet are still looking like I’ve not run a step, slightly embarrassing in a group where nearly everyone has some kind of blister issue or shin pain…

It was a pretty route through vineyards and past a couple of stunning Chateaus. So I took it easy to enjoy the day, though ran well, and made it to the finish in just under 6 hours, just behind Carmen and in 7th I think.

Château de Montreuil-Bellay in the distance - stunning when we ran right past it.

I’ll have to look at the full results tomorrow as tonight… drum roll please… I’m staying in an actual bed. For the first time since the first night last Tuesday. I booked into a b&b as the hall is really small and I managed to get the last room in the one and only place in town – it is lovely though.

So after a Pot Marie with the Mayor (our reception drink we often get each night to welcome us to town) and a dinner of pork and chips – which was nicer than it sounds, and followed by apple tart, I’m off to bed. Yay!!

Bed!

  1. Ooh, what a treat! You deserve the comfort! Well done Jen xxx

  2. Hi Jen – well done! I’ve been following your progress and deduced that you were doing well – and as the “benjamine”, too! Looks as though there’s a bit of a heatwave coming up, but you are used to this and I see you start quite early in the day too. All the very best.

  3. Well done Jennifer – even if the blogging does seem to have gone a bit awry in places.
